Susan Kay Anderson
Susan Kay Anderson, author of Mezzanine, began initial training as a detective at age nine in Nome, Alaska, by following inebriated citizens making their way from the Board of Trade. Besides Nevada, Montana, and other places, she also lived in Germany for a year on her aunt and uncle's organic farm. At 17, she traveled to Finland and lived with a (farming) family in Karelia. She graduated from Sutherlin High School, attended the University of Oregon (B.S. Anthropology), and the University of Tuebingen. She worked at Explore Booksellers in Aspen and studied with Ed Dorn at C.U. Boulder (M.A. English). Her M.F.A. in Creative Writing is from Eastern Oregon University. Anderson's recent writing is in: Barrow Street Press 4X2 Project, BlazeVOX Journal Spring 2016, Beat Scene, Calibanonline, Concis, and also featured at Tom Clark Beyond The Pale. Anderson is a recipient of a fellowship from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Jovanovich Award, a Ragdale Residency, and is a 2010 National Poetry Series Finalist.
